New Orleans at Night Photography Course – Fall
December 10 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm$185
This photography workshop is the only New Orleans photography class you will need to learn the ropes shooting the beautiful soft light of a Crescent City fall night! Long time New Orleans photographer and instructor Zack Smith will teach you how to get the most out of your camera wether you are a beginner or are an advanced shooter looking to gain more knowledge.
Safety and Social Distancing
In keeping with a safe shooting environment, this workshop is only open to 6 people. This way we can ensure safe walking, shooting, and learning for the duration of the course.
Zack has been teaching this exciting photography class for 16 years now and he guarantees to take you to the best locations while always offering a helping hand and creative suggestions along the way.
We begin our New Orleans night photography workshop at the New Orleans Museum of Art where we will walk to the Bayou St. John for some of the most awesome reflections of a New Orleans sunset you’ll get. We will also drive up Marconi and shoot more of the Bayou as we make our way to the Historic Fort St. John at the old locks where the bayou meets Lake Pontchartrain. We will head up through Lake Vista and photograph Lake Pontchartain at night, the (working!) Mardi Gras Fountain, and the Historic Lighthouse!
Please only bring your Digital SLR or Mirrorless Cameras for the best quality images. If you do not bring these cameras, there will be some quality and control differences in the teachings.
In this Night Photography Class you will learn low light, twilight, and long exposure photography through the techniques and gear used. My goal is to teach you the “Steps to Success” in getting the highest quality images from your shoot that are suitable for web posting or printing. You will learn all about Natural Light photography using tripods and hand held Strobe Photography!
This class is open to all levels. Any persons with a Digital SLR can take this course and no prior knowledge of long exposure night photography is needed.
Advanced photographers who have taken NOLA @ Night will enjoy familiar locations as well as many new ones!
WHAT TO BRING
You must bring your fully charged Digital SLR and any lens you want to shoot with. Wide angle lenses are great to have when shooting night time photography. You must have a tripod and a cable release is recommended. A small pen light is recommended to see your camera in some very dark areas.
This workshop requires walking from location to location so please pack accordingly and wear comfortable shoes!
TRANSPORTATION & PARKING
Each participant is responsible for their own transportation to and from the French Quarter and City Park. There is a good amount of walking in this workshop, come prepared! Zack will send out maps and gear checklists to all participants before the workshop!
All cancellations must be done within 10 days to receive a full refund. Within 10 days you have the opportunity to use your credit towards another workshop within the year if space provides. If you can replace someone with your spot, there is 100% refund.
