2024 The Year in Pictures

I am extremely grateful for all of my amazing clients both new and continuing that have allowed me to tell their story. I took a huge leap this last year in transforming my headshot clients into branding and video clients. I left my small Magazine Street studio for a photography studio upgrade and much higher overhead. Being in the mix of the Downtown scene on Julia and Baronne was a great move. Scary but great. I can’t ever forget the great moments from 2006-2010 where my office was the Canary Gallery…and it was good to be back.

For my new video clients, it was a big ask but at the end of the day when you research and know your client’s industries so well – you can help them with their marketing goals. Each of my clients have a vision, a unique language, and a single mission statement that is unique to them. I have to first understand that and hold it high. I value the trust they have in me, and that once scary big risk was calculated and I felt empowered to do more. Doing more in this case means shooting more, but also never forgetting where my roots are: music, culture, and people. I was able to continue photographing musicians and friends at my studio on Julia Street and evolving with them.

In compiling my favorite photographs of 2024 I had to remind myself of my ultimate mission statement – One Foot in the Swamp and One Foot in the Street. In a nutshell that means that in order for me to continue pushing the envelope of visual storytelling for my clients and my community I have to stay involved and engaged in the reasons I love photography. I need to keep running to the shadows, finding the silhouettes, dragging the shutter and shooting from the hip. And always, always – remember to always Shoot for the Wall.

I hope you continue to do for yourself as you do for others in whatever industry you are in. Live and work with intention, purpose, and passion.
