Turning the headshot experience from checkout cashier to collaborator

On the job training is so vital to the evolution of my photography and video business in New Orleans. I may get hired to do a headshot booth and I know what to do now. But sometimes I see an opportunity when I walk into a space, and feel that I can take it to another level. I can take a few roads – I can do a few things. I can:

  1. Keep it simple and bring the tools that I have to give my client a great product. In. Out….done
  2. I can do #1….but I can take it to another level…here’s how:

When I am given the ability to engage with a client that has invested money, time, and heart into their brand – I have to take it upon myself to use that and dig deeper in our interactions with each other. I have to ask the questions about their goals, their life, and how I can be of assistance to them. I can use this moment to create a small relationship and have them remember ME…and the headshot that we made to follow. I need to remember that if I am disconnected and ‘just a worker’ I am seen that way to the client – I am just another barista at Starbucks, a Smoothie King window teller handing them their drink. I want to be your trusted photographer and collaborator and make sure this first time we work together, isn’t the last.
